Drive-thru banking at First State Bank offers you the longest banking hours in the area.
Monday - Saturday, 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. and most holidays!

First State Bank's Customer Service Department is ready to assist you with all your personal banking needs. We take pride in our friendly, efficient, personal service. We offer a full array services from checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit, IRA accounts, and many other banking related products and services.

Our Walk-up Banking is a popular option with the same long convenient hours of the Drive-thru, 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday - Saturday.

Our friendly teller staff will assist you with your account transactions, Christmas club accounts and safety deposit box transactions. Our Bookkeeping Department is on site and available to assist you in person or by telephone with any questions you may have. Your statement is prepared here in our bank, with your canceled checks and deposits returned to you each month. Our drive-thru staff is ready to assist you in our beautiful new facility, with 4 lanes and a new ATM terminal.

Debra F. Phipps is Vice President in charge of Customer Service for the bank. This includes tellers, receptionists, and customer service representatives. Along with her other duties, Deb is available to assist customers with new accounts, Certificates of Deposits, and IRA's.

Sue Tranquilli is a Customer Service Representative for the bank. She opens and maintains checking, savings, certificates of deposits, and IRA accounts. She serves as a personal banker for her customers, and is responsible for the daily transactions in the department. Sue is in charge of marketing and advertising for First State Bank in addition to monitoring the bank's web site. Sue welcomes you to call her or e-mail her if you have any questions.

Cynthia F. Huisinga is our Newcomer customer liaison and serves as our Golden Circle coordinator. She works with the customer service department opening accounts, personally greeting and visiting new and established customers. Cynthia is also Head Teller for the bank.

Sheila Lane is a Customer Service Representative. She opens and maintains checking and savings accounts, as well as Certificates of Deposit, and IRA accounts. She also serves as a personal banker for her customers. Call if you have any questions about the different types of accounts, CD rates, or IRA questions you may have.

Shiela is responsible for Express Checks, our in-house check printing service. Sheila prints each Express Check order to the customer's specifications, and has their checks available within 3 business days! You can pick up your checks at the bank, at the Drive-thru, or we'll mail them to your home or business address. Call Sheila at (217) 762-9431 for details about in-house Express Checks

In addition to directing your telephone calls, they meet and greet customers in the lobby, and assist the Customer Service Department by opening accounts.

Executive Staff

Terri Wells (seated) is Executive Assistant to the President, Rachel Merry is Administrative Assistant and Steve Mitze is Vice President and Cashier.
As Vice President and Cashier, Steve Mitze is responsible for directing the banks operation, audit and accounting and other financial reporting, in addition to overseeing daily cash management and the investment of bank funds. Terri Wells handles a broad range of administrative details related to the office of the bank president, board of directors, and the shareholders. She is assisted by Rachel Merry who is also responsible for payroll and secretarial duties for the President, and the Vice President and Cashier.
